Appeal Arrangements for Admission to Year 7 in September 2017

  • As stated in the published admission arrangements for entry to the School in 2017-2018, any applicant refused a place has a legal right of appeal against the Governing Body’s decision not to allow admission
  • Any applicant wishing to exercise their legal right of appeal should contact the School as soon as possible for an appeal form and further information. Please use the e-mail address admin@mary.havering.sch.uk for any correspondence via this means of communication
  • The Governing Body will issue a detailed and individualised statement regarding their admission decision to all appellants
  • The closing date for submission of appeals for entry to Year 7 in September 2017 is Friday, 21 April 2017
  • It is envisaged that appeal hearings relating to entry to Year 7 in September 2017 will take place on Tuesday, 16 May 2017. All appellants will be required to attend a session at 9.00 am on Tuesday, 16 May 2017 at which the Governing Body will present its case relating to oversubscription as part of the grouped appeal arrangements. Individual hearings will then take place later that day or the next day. If there are too many appeals received to be heard in one day, a further session of individual appeal hearings will be arranged for Wednesday, 17 May 2017. Appellants will be given at least two weeks’ notice of the precise date, time and location of the grouped appeal session at which the Governing Body will present its case relating to oversubscription and the individual appeal hearing
  • The outcome of appeals will be communicated in writing within five working days of the hearing
