The GCSE has three units:

Setting up a Business – 1 hour Examination – 40%

Growing as a Business – 1 hour Examination – 35%

Investigating Business – Controlled Assessment – 25%

The Applied course is equivalent to one GCSE and has two units:

Each Unit is assessed through two components:

Part A – 35 multiple-choice questions. This component of the examination is to be completed in forty five minutes. This component of the examination is worth 35 marks.

Part B – a pre-release case study essay. Prior to the examination, students will be given data and information to consider. The examination paper will also provide additional data and information that relates to the pre-release case study. Students will then be asked questions specifically about the case study (covering both pre-release and new data and information). This component of the examination is to be completed in one hour and forty five minutes and is worth 65 marks.
