How do we organise teaching groups at KS4?

At KS4, classes are taught in option groups which are mixed ability.

Which qualification do we prepare pupils for?

What will my daughter learn at KS4?

Year 10

All pupils will study three mandatory topics as follows:

Health and well-being for child development

Understand the equipment and nutritional needs of children from birth to five years

Understand the development norms of a child from birth to five years.

Year 11

Pupils will complete two coursework modules on the following topics;

Understanding the equipment and nutritional needs of children from birth to five years. Within this coursework module pupils will investigate and assess different pieces of equipment needed within a nursery setting in order to effectively care for children aged between birth to five years. They will also present work which demonstrates their knowledge of a healthy balanced diet for children of this age range too.

Understanding the development of a child from birth to five years. Within this coursework module the pupils will study the development of a child over a period of time. They will be expected to plan tasks that will demonstrate the child’s level of development and will evaluate these tasks against the expected milestones for the child.

Future pathways/careers

This Cambridge National will prepare students for further qualifications in Child Care, Health and Social Care, Psychology, Sociology and Biology.
